The 1986 Kansas City Royals finished with a record of 76-86. They scored 654 runs and belted 137 home runs to go along with a .252 batting average. The offense was powered by Steve Balboni, who led the team with 29 home runs and 88 RBI. Willie Wilson led the team with 170 hits for a .269 average. Willie Wilson had a great year on the basepaths with 34 stolen bases.

The team allowed 673 runs and had a team ERA of 3.82. Leading the team in wins was Charlie Leibrandt, with 14. Mark Gubicza racked up 118 strkeouts to lead the team. Dan Quisenberry was the team's best fireman, with 12 saves.
