The 1983 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 79-83. They scored 679 runs and belted 83 home runs to go along with a .270 batting average. The offense was powered by George Hendrick, who led the team with 18 home runs and 97 RBI. Willie McGee led the team with 172 hits for a .286 average. Lonnie Smith had a great year on the basepaths with 43 stolen bases.

The team allowed 710 runs and had a team ERA of 3.83. Dave LaPoint and John Stuper were tied for the team lead in wins with 12. Joaquin Andujar racked up 125 strkeouts to lead the team. Bruce Sutter led the team with 21 saves.
