The 1981 Detroit Tigers finished with a record of 60-49. They scored 427 runs and belted 65 home runs to go along with a .256 batting average. Lance Parrish led the team in home runs with 10. The offense was powered by Steve Kemp, who led the team with 49 RBI and 103 hits.

The team allowed 404 runs and had a team ERA of 3.54. Jack Morris led the pitching staff with 14 wins and 97 strikeouts. Kevin Saucier was the team's best fireman, with 13 saves.
