The 1980 Chicago White Sox finished with a record of 70-90. They scored 587 runs and belted 91 home runs to go along with a .259 batting average. Jim Morrison and Wayne Nordhagen were tied for the team lead in home runs with 15. Lamar Johnson knocked in 81 runs. Jim Morrison led the team with 171 hits for a .283 average.

The team allowed 722 runs and had a team ERA of 3.92. Britt Burns led the pitching staff with 15 wins and 133 strikeouts. Ed Farmer was the team's best fireman, with 30 saves.
