The 1978 Baltimore Orioles finished with a record of 90-71. They scored 659 runs and belted 154 home runs to go along with a .258 batting average. Doug DeCinces provided the power for the team with 28 homers. The offense was powered by Eddie Murray, who led the team with 95 RBI and 174 hits.

The team allowed 633 runs and had a team ERA of 3.56. Jim Palmer was the winningest pitcher, with 21 games won. Mike Flanagan led the team with 167 strikeouts. Don Stanhouse was the team's best fireman, with 24 saves.
