The 1977 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 83-79. They scored 737 runs and belted 96 home runs to go along with a .270 batting average. The offense was powered by Ted Simmons, who led the team with 21 home runs and 95 RBI. Garry Templeton led the team with 200 hits for a .322 average. Lou Brock had a great year on the basepaths with 35 stolen bases.

The team allowed 688 runs and had a team ERA of 3.81. Bob Forsch led the team with 20 wins. Eric Rasmussen racked up 120 strkeouts to lead the team. Al Hrabosky led the team with 10 saves.
