The 1976 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 72-90. They scored 629 runs and belted 63 home runs to go along with a .260 batting average. Hector Cruz provided the power for the team with 13 homers. The offense was powered by Ted Simmons, who led the team with 75 RBI and 159 hits. Lou Brock had a great year on the basepaths with 56 stolen bases.

The team allowed 671 runs and had a team ERA of 3.61. Lynn McGlothen was the winningest pitcher, with 13 games won. Pete Falcone struck out 138 batters to lead the team. Al Hrabosky was the team's best fireman, with 13 saves.
