The 1973 Pittsburgh Pirates finished with a record of 80-82. They scored 704 runs and belted 154 home runs to go along with a .261 batting average. The offense was powered by Willie Stargell, who led the team with 44 home runs and 119 RBI. Al Oliver led the team with 191 hits for a .292 average.

The team allowed 693 runs and had a team ERA of 3.74. Leading the team in wins was Nelson Briles, with 14. Dock Ellis and Jim Rooker were tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 122. Dave Giusti was the team's best fireman, with 20 saves.
