The 1972 Atlanta Braves finished with a record of 70-84. They scored 628 runs and belted 144 home runs to go along with a .258 batting average. Hank Aaron led the team in home runs with 34. Earl Williams was the best run producer with 87 RBI. Ralph Garr led the team with 180 hits for a .325 average.

The team allowed 730 runs and had a team ERA of 4.27. Phil Niekro led the pitching staff with 16 wins and 164 strikeouts. Cecil Upshaw was the team's best fireman, with 13 saves.
