The 1970 Pittsburgh Pirates finished with a record of 89-73. They scored 729 runs and belted 130 home runs to go along with a .270 batting average. The offense was powered by Willie Stargell, who led the team with 31 home runs and 85 RBI. Matty Alou led the team with 201 hits for a .297 average.

The team allowed 664 runs and had a team ERA of 3.71. Leading the team in wins was Luke Walker, with 15. Bob Veale racked up 178 strkeouts to lead the team. Dave Giusti led the team with 26 saves.
