[edit] 1969 NHL Entry Draft Summary

The 1969 NHL Amateur Draft was the first NHL Draft to be held which was not affected by the old sponsorship system. All junior players born before 1950 were eligible for this draft. Even European players were eligible for being drafted if their National Associations gave permission. In fact 1969 marked the first time that a European born player was selected. The draft order was the reverse of the previous season's finishes another first for the NHL Draft. The 1969 NHL Draft was also the last draft that gave the Montreal Canadiens a cultural preference by allowing them to select the first two French-Canadian players.

The draft rotation was set with the following order; Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Oakland Seals, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks.

Out of all the players selected Bobby Clarke ended up with the most games played in the NHL with 1,144 and Andre Dupont ended up with the most NHL Playoff games played at 140.
