The 1968 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 97-65. They scored 583 runs and belted 73 home runs to go along with a .249 batting average. Orlando Cepeda led the team in home runs with 16. Mike Shannon knocked in 79 runs. Curt Flood led the team with 186 hits for a .301 average. Lou Brock had a great year on the basepaths with 62 stolen bases.

The team allowed 472 runs and had a team ERA of 2.49. Bob Gibson led the pitching staff with 22 wins and 268 strikeouts. Joe Hoerner was the team's best fireman, with 17 saves.
