The 1965 Pittsburgh Pirates finished with a record of 90-72. They scored 675 runs and belted 111 home runs to go along with a .265 batting average. The offense was powered by Willie Stargell, who led the team with 27 home runs and 107 RBI. Roberto Clemente led the team with 194 hits for a .329 average.

The team allowed 580 runs and had a team ERA of 3.01. Vern Law and Bob Veale were tied for the team lead in wins with 17. Bob Veale led the team with 276 strikeouts. Al McBean was the team's best fireman, with 18 saves.
