The 1961 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 80-74. They scored 703 runs and belted 103 home runs to go along with a .271 batting average. The offense was powered by Ken Boyer, who led the team with 24 home runs, 95 RBI, and 194 hits.

The team allowed 668 runs and had a team ERA of 3.74. Larry Jackson and Ray Sadecki were tied for the team lead in wins with 14. Bob Gibson led the team with 166 strikeouts.
