The 1953 Cincinnati Reds finished with a record of 68-86. They scored 714 runs and belted 166 home runs to go along with a .261 batting average. The offense was powered by Ted Kluszewski, who led the team with 40 home runs and 108 RBI. Gus Bell led the team with 183 hits for a .300 average.

The team allowed 788 runs and had a team ERA of 4.63. Leading the team in wins was Harry Perkowski, with 12. Bud Podbielan led the team with 74 strikeouts.
