The 1949 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 96-58. They scored 766 runs and belted 102 home runs to go along with a .277 batting average. The offense was powered by Stan Musial, who led the team with 36 home runs, 123 RBI, and 207 hits.

The team allowed 615 runs and had a team ERA of 3.45. Howie Pollet led the pitching staff with 20 wins and 108 strikeouts.
