The 1947 Pittsburgh Pirates finished with a record of 62-92. They scored 744 runs and belted 156 home runs to go along with a .261 batting average. The offense was powered by Ralph Kiner, who led the team with 51 home runs and 127 RBI. Frankie Gustine led the team with 183 hits for a .297 average.

The team allowed 815 runs and had a team ERA of 4.68. Fritz Ostermueller was the winningest pitcher, with 12 games won. Kirby Higbe struck out 99 batters to lead the team.
