The 1947 Philadelphia Athletics finished with a record of 78-76. They scored 633 runs and belted 61 home runs to go along with a .252 batting average. The offense was powered by Sam Chapman, who led the team with 14 home runs and 83 RBI. Barney McCosky led the team with 179 hits for a .328 average.

The team allowed 614 runs and had a team ERA of 3.51. Phil Marchildon led the pitching staff with 19 wins and 128 strikeouts. Russ Christopher was the team's best fireman, with 12 saves.
