The 1940 New York Giants finished with a record of 72-80. They scored 663 runs and belted 91 home runs to go along with a .267 batting average. Mel Ott provided the power for the team with 19 homers. Babe Young was the best run producer with 101 RBI. Burgess Whitehead led the team with 160 hits for a .282 average.

The team allowed 660 runs and had a team ERA of 3.79. Hal Schumacher led the pitching staff with 13 wins and 123 strikeouts.
