£7m bid for Young turned down

Watford have revealed they turned down a £7million offer for England Under-21 star Ashley Young this week.
Young scored 15 goals last season as the Hornets romped to promotion from the Championship and is currently their top scorer as they struggle at the wrong end of the Premier League table.
Many clubs in Watfords position would be cashing in on Young at such a price, particularly as the Hornets are starting work on a costly stadium redevelopment this weekend - but manager Aidy Boothroyd believes Young is worth more than £7million and is wary of shooting himself in the foot by selling his prize asset to relegation rivals (West Ham are believed to be the club that made the cash offer).
Hornets fans will be hoping that the club can hold out to keep local-boy Young, whose two younger brothers are both coming through the Watford academy system as well, despite the various clubs being linked with him in the press, including a potential offer from Tottenham which could see Wayne Routledge and Calum Davenport move to Vicarage Road.
