"The Gospel" Week 4 Quarterbacks

Using the Bruno Boys Quarterback rankings last week Donovan McNabb finally shut me up. I simply could not trust him and he needed to shut me up before I ever advised anyone to play him again this season.

McNabb wasn’t the only player to shut me up (Derek Anderson), but I did hit dead on with Romo, V. Young, Delhomme, Matt Schaub, Bulger, and Leinart.

I’ll give it another go this week on which QB’s are likely to perform at a high level, others who are overvalued, and a couple surprises that are undervalued.

High Level

Peyton Manning: I would never question anything to do with Peyton Manning. Once again the Bruno Boys hit this dead on. Manning scores an easy 26 points this week against Denver.

Tom Brady: Not that we didn’t already know, but Brady is showing why he has been regarded as the best QB in the game. A predicted 28 points is fine with me as long as Randy Moss is on the field.

Tony Romo: Romo could easily find himself well below his predicted 24 points because the Rams cannot stop the run. However, Romo gets off early, controls the game throughout, and easily reaches the Bruno Boys’ predicted 24 points.

Eli Manning: Boy I hope the Bruno Boys are correct with this one. I have to play Eli this week due to Delhomme’s injury status. I’m sure they’re correct with Eli at home against a struggling Eagles pass defense.

Overvalued

Donovan McNabb: It’s difficult putting McNabb on this list for a 2nd straight week, but the Eagles are on the road and it’s a divisional game against the Giants. Twenty-six is too high so look for a game around 18 for McNabb.

Jon Kitna: I really hate to say this considering Kitna is on 2 out of 3 of my fantasy teams. If Calvin Johnson plays he reaches his predicted 24 points, otherwise he falls to 16 or 18 this week.

Brett Favre: Brett Favre on the road in a divisional game versus a tough Minnesota defense. Twenty-two points will not happen this week. I know he’s back, but 16-18 is worthy of a starting spot.

Ben Roethlisberger: The Bruno Boys were right when they said that “Roethlisberger throws a wrench into these rankings on a weekly basis”. Predicted to score 22, but with a dominant run game led by Willie Parker, the absence of Hines Ward, and a short field created by an excellent defense, “Big Ben” just won’t find the opportunities. Fourteen to sixteen this week!

Marc Bulger: Bulger’s injury is obviously affecting his play and he is another player that I would have to sit until he proves that he’s ready to play. I don’t see much from Bulger for the majority of the season and his predicted 18 points looks more like 10-12 to me.

Undervalued

Matt Hasselbeck: Hasselbeck will probably top the predicted 17 points on touchdowns alone. Add in his yardage and we’re looking at a week around 25 points.

Trent Green: The Raiders are just giving up way too much to mediocre offenses. Green has a great game this week and his predicted 16 points hits low 20’s this week.

Phillip Rivers: Bounced back after a sub-par first couple of weeks. Rivers keeps this pace going and throws for 2 touchdowns and 250 yards. Look for a week around 18-20 points.

Brian Griese: If you picked him up in free-agency I know it’s hard to start him. However, did you see what McNabb did to this Detroit defense last week? Griese is anxious to play and should’ve been the starter for quite some time now. Look for a game well above his predicted 12 points.

What do you think? Cutler, V. Young, or Brees?

Well, considering that Cutler is the only one playing this week, I'd have to go with him.

Hmmm...so you're saying go with Cutler then...Sometimes it is good to have the choices made for you like that...prevents you from making the wrong decision, or worse, changing to the wrong guy minutes before the game...DOH!

Tough for Bulger to succeed with two broken ribs, a banged up knee, minus Stephen Jackson, minus two starting linemen, another lineman who is a key backup, and a guy that had stepped in.

Yeah, that Orlando Pace loss is huge for the Rams. They're gonna stink for the rest of the year.

Pace, Setterstrom, Incognito has yet to play, and Todd Steussie is hurt as well. Alex Barron is entrenched at RT, so they need Steussie to return to play LT and cut down on the revolving door.

I'd go with Young until he proves otherwise.
